The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (Album: Rubber Soul (1965))
!!!! Capo 2nd fret !!!!
[Riff x 2]
I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me.
She showed me her room, isn’t it good, Norwegian wood?
Dm G
She asked me to stay & she told me to sit anywhere,
Dm G E
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine.
We talked until two and then she said, it’s time for bed.
[Riff x 2]
Dm G
She told me she worked in the morning & started to laugh.
Dm G E
I told her I didn’t and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke I was alone, this bird had flown.
So I lit a fire, isn’t it good, Norwegian wood.
[Riff x 2]

OPTIONAL: DROPPED TUNING: E-A-D-G-B-d De-tune 1st string down to D
This creates a Celtic drone along with the sustained A bass note. You could also detune the 6th string down to D, just in case you hit that string, but using the open 5th string for the bass drone sounds much better.
